Early Diagnosis of Bladder Cancer Important
Bladder cancer is the sixth most common cancer in the United States. National Cancer Institute statistics report approximately 70,000 new bladder cancer diagnoses in 2010, and around 15,000 people died from bladder cancer in 2010. Bladder cancer is a cancer that can be found early. Diagnosing this condition in the early stages improves your chances that it can be treated successfully.
A doctor will test for bladder cancer initially through a urinalysis to determine if there is blood in the urine, also called hematuria. Your doctor may put your results through urine cytology, a test that looks for bladder caner by examining the urine under a microscope. You may also undergo a cystoscopy. None of these tests can sufficiently rule out bladder cancer.
Actos and Bladder Cancer Symptoms to Watch For
Users of Actos, who are at an increased risk of developing bladder cancer with extended use, should make certain to watch for the signs and symptoms of bladder cancer.
Signs of Bladder Cancer:
- Hematuria or blood in urine
- Increase in frequency of urination
- Dysuria or feeling of pain during urination
- Invalid urge to urinate

Types of Bladder Cancer
- Transitional cell carcinoma, by far the most common type of bladder cancer, is divided into two subtypes, papillary carcinoma and flat carcinoma
- Squamous cell carcinoma
- Small cell carcinoma
